I’ve been giving attention to some Scriptures declaring God’s forthcoming wrath, one day soon to be poured out upon all haters of God in what Jesus calls, great tribulation such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. Matthew 24:21. It’s not a pretty picture! Neither should it be when one looks at the kind of people they are. They’re not pretty either … pretty ugly in fact! Ugly spirited, that is. New Testament Romans 1:18-32 reveals the kind of people He’s dealing with, Romans 2:8-9 declares the kind of Continue reading “Five Reasons Why People Will Go Through The Great Tribulation”
It Lacks a Man like Sir Winston Churchill
Over the Christmas and New Year break I was greatly blessed to read a biography written well over sixty years ago on the life and work of British politician and statesman Sir Winston Churchill. I was also greatly blessed to discover the biographer to be a man of humility, honesty and integrity. Originally he had made it his aim to make the career of Churchill a moral object-lesson for politicians because, as he had conceived it, Continue reading “It Lacks a Man like Sir Winston Churchill”
The Spirit of Might not Mice
The old pastor told a business leader that he would like to meet with him and four or five of his colleagues. The business leader said he would like to do the same, but his colleagues were reluctant to do so, “they’re scared of you, they don’t want to sit in the same room with you.” The old pastor asked what in the world was it that made them scared of him. The businessman replied, “Well, it’s your eyes. They’re so piercing they’re afraid you’ve been reading what they’ve been doing.” The old pastor had not been “reading” them, but it was indeed an undeniable Continue reading “The Spirit of Might not Mice”
The Existence of Evil and the Reality of Satan
In discussing the existence of evil and the reality of Satan the devil, an associate professor of a New Testament School of Theology is quoted as saying, “For the most part, you don’t hear mainline Protestants talking about Satan, the devil or the demonic; I think we’ve handed that kind of language over to the fundamentalists.” There’s no suggestion that this is what the professor herself has done, but in her line of work and communication she observes that multitudes of Protestant Christians have. Another New Continue reading “The Existence of Evil and the Reality of Satan”
Disobedient Christians Who’ve Lost Their Authority In God
A pastor told his church recently that when Adam disobeyed God he lost his authority in God and everything turned against him. In thinking about this, I’m asking myself how come Adam allowed himself to get to that point. What happened to the man who walked with God and was told by Him to have dominion over everything? Genesis 1:28. Did he get so caught up in his work that he caused his relationship with both God and his wife to wane? How else could a man go from having dominion over to becoming dominated over? Had those relationships been strong, would Continue reading “Disobedient Christians Who’ve Lost Their Authority In God”
Master or Teacher – Which One Commands More Respect From You?
Most of my Bible reading this year has been from the Authorized KJV rather than the usual NKJV or NIV. I’m not a die-hard ‘King James only’ Christian, but I am very glad to have one in my possession, having been greatly blessed by studying or meditating on some words not used in the other versions. But in reference to the Lord Jesus, it was only this week that I was quickened to the difference between Master in the KJV and Teacher in the others. A casual glance in my Concordance might suggest they mean the same, but not so when the Holy Spirit draws attention to the matter. Master Continue reading “Master or Teacher – Which One Commands More Respect From You?”
So, What Price Freedom of Speech?
In reference to Hurricane Sandy and the devastation it did to the Northeastern region of the USA, I noted the comments of Christian writer and TV presenter, Hal Lindsey, “Perhaps the most critical and immediate effect of the storm is the loss of electrical power,” and it, “serves as a warning about for which we are unprepared.” As he spoke, I transferred my thoughts to the realm of spiritual power, and the “storms” we can expect to encounter for our stand as biblical Christians. That is, our stand for the biblical definition of marriage, the sanctity of life, Israel’s Continue reading “So, What Price Freedom of Speech?”
The “no such thing” Thing
I was sharing with a fellow Christian that I had been receiving private emails and phone calls from people who had left a fellowship because of false doctrine taught within, plus manipulative tactics used by the leadership to control current members as well as bad-mouth those who had left. He gave me what I now consider to be the classic Christian response, “There’s no such thing as the perfect church, you know.” At least he was gracious enough not to follow through with, “But if you find one and join, it will no longer be perfect.” The first statement may not be the Continue reading “The “no such thing” Thing”
They’ve Kicked Jesus to the Curb!
I was closing the driveway gate the other day when a man walked along, stopped and introduced himself. Shaking my hand he said, “Hello I’m Jim (not real name). I’m the pastor of the church just down the street.” Knowing the church and the denomination, I mentioned to him that twenty years ago I was a member of the denomination, but not his church. He asked why I was no longer a member, so I told him it was because of Bible compromise. I asked, “When push comes to shove between the Bible and the Church Constitution, Jim, which one do you thinks wins out?” He Continue reading “They’ve Kicked Jesus to the Curb!”
Why Don’t “Believers” Become Believers?
I praise God for the Bible teacher who once asked his class, “What is one of the evidences of being baptized in the Holy Spirit?” His message was on a cassette tape so I was unable to see facial expressions. I heard laughter though, when he answered the question, “War!” He went on to teach spiritual warfare and how to engage in it. He spent a lot of time teaching on the spiritual battles within that one could expect to engage in, especially on how to discern the convicting voice of God from the condemning voice of Satan. With regards to external spiritual battles, he warned that the Continue reading “Why Don’t “Believers” Become Believers?”
