He Had A Love For Lies They Had No Love For Truth

When forced to choose between the swastika of Nazi Germany and the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, Adolf Hitler was convinced that German Christians wouldn’t hesitate to betray, “their God.”   Speaking of the church leaders, he said, “They will betray their God to us.  They will betray anything for the sake of their miserable jobs and incomes.”  Hitler was mad but he was not stupid … he understood what drives human nature like most people will never understand it, including far too many Christians.  As a result, most Continue reading “He Had A Love For Lies They Had No Love For Truth”

When The Chips Are Down

A well known public figure here wrote in her memoirs that she had always looked for meaning in life.  On a TV interview recently, she was asked, “Have you found it?”  She replied that she didn’t think so and, “I don’t know why but I’m always looking.  I’m looking for deep, meaningful, reciprocated love that’s probably even more than most people find.  And I’m always looking for something above the ordinary.”  Because the TV interviewer knew something Continue reading “When The Chips Are Down”

Let’s See The Power!

It’s reported that an Islamic group here, in Australia are soon to take out a series of national TV commercials to promote Islam. Supposedly they’ll feature several excerpts from the Koran to show that Muslims share similar values to Christians.  Apparently it is the same group that erected billboards across the nation, with the message, “Jesus is a prophet of Islam.”  Quote: “We thought it best to, for a lack of a better term, hijack Islam back and show you what Islam is really all about……..We hope that a campaign that seeks to build bridges, foster community across mainstream Australia and deal Continue reading “Let’s See The Power!”

Self-god Is a Tyrant

Working with a group of people recently, I noticed the shaking hands of a young man.  Although the opening session included brief introductions all around, my immediate thought was that his shaking was more than one of simply being nervous about sharing when it came his turn to do so.  I’d seen such shaking a few times before over the years, so I began to think he was one with a mental disturbance of some kind.  During a coffee break he came to me apologizing “for my restlessness and shaking, I have bipolar disorder.”  The first time I Continue reading “Self-god Is a Tyrant”

They Come To Meet Jesus But Meet Lazarus Instead

In recent days I’ve been giving thought to the counsel of Smith Wigglesworth, given to a class of Bible students in 1927, warning them that if they ever turned from the word of God “to some other place ” they could not believe the truth after that.  He said, “The spirit of this age is to get you to believe a lie.  If you believe a lie, you cannot believe the truth.  When once you are seasoned with a lie against the word of God, He sends you strong delusion that you shall believe the lie.  Who Continue reading “They Come To Meet Jesus But Meet Lazarus Instead”

Somebody’s Spiritual Football

For a few weeks now on this blog I have been making mention that many truth-seeking, truth-loving Christian people will need to prepare themselves to experience separation from their much loved denomination or fellowship.  As it is presently, however,  there are lots among them who disagree with this suggestion and have the Scriptures to back it up – especially Hebrews 10:25.  On the other hand, some are already experiencing a stirring from the Holy Spirit; where once they were comfortable amongst their people, they Continue reading “Somebody’s Spiritual Football”

That’s The Problem With Our Problems

The other morning on television I watched a group of people sitting on the ground in a circle expressing forced laughter.  Apparently research has shown that the health benefits of laughter are far-reaching, strengthening one’s immune system, boosting energy, diminishing pain and giving protection from the damaging effects of stress.  More than one person had a stressed out look on their face and so I couldn’t help but wonder how the rest of the day was going to pan out for them when once again they’re Continue reading “That’s The Problem With Our Problems”

God Kills Us Off … He Executes Us!

I recently read an article on guilt, written by a popular leader of a church here in Melbourne.  The sub-heading read: For many of us, a church and the symbols of religion merely remind us of where not to venture.  A smaller heading within the article: Guilt and Religion have long been bedfellows.  It is time to get these two apart.  This man has spent many long years working at getting “these two apart” – his area of expertise being in the Continue reading “God Kills Us Off … He Executes Us!”

Different Label – Same Stuff in the Bottle!

On a recent national television program, millions of Australian people including myself, watched and listened to a cult leader in his late 40’s tell us he was Jesus Christ.  There’s nothing new in this of course, he’s simply one of many from around the world who pop up from time to time claiming the same thing.  Unlike most of them who simply have a religious, dominating personality though, this man is rather good looking … tall, athletic figure, longish hair, light beard, lovely smile and loads of charisma.  Some of these Jesus’ show Continue reading “Different Label – Same Stuff in the Bottle!”

The Need to Think and Evaluate Evidence

In my experience, a common accusation made to Christians by non-believers is that we’re not really all that intelligent and that our faith is a great cop-out, a great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence.  Usually such statements are made to support their bias for science and evolution, which is in turn a grand excuse for them to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence for God.  Nevertheless for the purposes of this post, I’m going to Continue reading “The Need to Think and Evaluate Evidence”
