The Key to Spiritual Vitality

Listening to an Internet audio sermon recently, the pastor told his people that if they thought he was not ordained of God, speaking a message from God, then they should go look for a church where they believed this was happening. He repeated his words finishing with, “then get out now!” I don’t know why he said it, but my first thought was, “A man who fears God, will never fear people.” How different he is from the average pastor or elder. Asking myself why they don’t speak like that when they ought to, denominationalism came to mind. In other words, the church would appeal to the hierarchy of their denomination and soon Continue reading “The Key to Spiritual Vitality”

All Servants of Satan Are Liars

In response to the question of whether or not Christianity’s Jesus Christ presented a truer picture of God than that of Islam’s Mohammed, the newly-elected archbishop of the Church of Sweden has been quoted as saying, “One cannot reduce the whole of religious theology, that is to say the question of how different religions relate to one another, to a yes-and-no question. It amounts to doing violence to a wealth of knowledge and experience that can be found there.” Says she, not hesitating to do violence to the Bible! Apparently she says the Virgin Birth must be understood metaphorically; hell doesn’t exist and that biblical Continue reading “All Servants of Satan Are Liars”

Turning the Ashamed Into the Not Ashamed

A member of a television audience asked the panelists on the program, “Which so-called dangerous idea do you each think would have the greatest potential to change the world for the better if it were implemented?” The homosexual activist among them spoke for population/birth control, the aging feminist spoke for freedom and the one Christian among them spoke this, “The most dangerous idea in human history and philosophy remains the belief that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and rose from the dead and that is the most dangerous idea you will ever encounter.” Normally audience members sneer and jeer at the mere mention of the biblical Jesus, but Continue reading “Turning the Ashamed Into the Not Ashamed”

A Half Gospel Equals No Gospel

Years ago a Christ-rejecting gospel mocker asked me, “If your Jesus and His gospel are all that you claim them to be, why aren’t more people interested?” My response, “My Jesus and His gospel require a person to turn from their evil ways and turn to God. Most of them are like you, they won’t do that.” I realize now that I short-changed him with that answer. I should have added, “If more preachers in pulpits would listen to the Holy Spirit instead of the devil, the reality of Jesus Christ would be more evident.” So who are those listening to the devil? One answer today: Continue reading “A Half Gospel Equals No Gospel”

Offended By the Name ‘Jesus’

The director of a city-owned cemetery in Colorado, USA refused to allow the name ‘Jesus’ to be engraved within Christianity’s fish symbol on a recently deceased woman’s headstone. Why? First they were told it wouldn’t fit, then they were told it might offend people. When asked by the family to reconsider, he refused, saying, “What if somebody wanted to put a swastika?” The family took their concerns to the city manager, but once again their request was denied. He and other city officials apparently agreed with the director that people would be offended by the name ‘Jesus’. So the family decided to post their plight on Facebook. The result? Continue reading “Offended By the Name ‘Jesus’”

So Which Judgment for You?

The religious lady spoke of her fear of having to face God, “On Judgment day.” It was one of the reasons she got out of bed early nearly every week morning to attend Mass, believing if she was faithful in that practice, God would look upon her with mercy on that day. She’s not the only one to hold that belief of course; it’s what her church teaches. The community service do-gooder told me that when he stands before God, “I hope he’ll choose me as a sheep and not a goat!” When informing both that their acceptance of the gospel of Jesus Christ would deliver them once and for all from such fear and false hope, they Continue reading “So Which Judgment for You?”

The Reprobate Mind

Bible Christians in the Western world are soon to come under intense persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ. In Europe, Canada and the USA, pastors and chaplains are being persecuted and prosecuted for praying publicly, “in the name of Jesus.” That’s not happening here in Australia yet, but given that this nation is a follower that embraces all things good and bad from those places, persecution is around the corner without a shadow of doubt. What will Bible Christians do? We know what Bible compromising Christians will do. They have already declared their hand when Continue reading “The Reprobate Mind”

That’s the Voice and Language of Satan

In a few posts on this blog I have referred to (some) leaders and preachers of today’s church as, “pulpit devils” or “spiritual cowards” – emissaries of Satan the devil, slaves to political correctness and the fear of man Proverbs 29:25. These are the ones who deny, dismiss, and or water down what the Bible declares on certain issues, or, they’ll reinterpret what it says so as not to offend those who sit under them. The saints of old warned us that sinful rejection of Christ would, “one day come to a head.” Well, the chief of all sins in today’s church is the rejection of Jesus Christ, so that day can’t be too far off … the Lord Himself will bring it to a head and many will Continue reading “That’s the Voice and Language of Satan”

I Don’t Believe they Don’t Believe in God

For the past couple of years or so, I’ve been noting comments made by the same few people on one particular “social” media forum who say they don’t believe in God and religion. When a new discussion thread comes up about either one, they can always be relied upon to turn up like clockwork and express an opinion. Sadly though, few opinions ever get expressed without anger, bitterness, sarcasm and cynicism. The religions of Roman Catholicism, Mormonism and Russellism (Jehovah’s Witness) appear to be the backgrounds of most of them. Based on my experiences Continue reading “I Don’t Believe they Don’t Believe in God”

The Loveless Church

The Bible teacher told his class,“If you don’t love the Bible you don’t love truth and if you don’t love truth, you don’t love Jesus.” I agree, Christians love to talk about love, but the test of its authenticity can be pointed back to one’s attitude towards the Bible. The one who loves the Bible agrees with every word written within, even when they don’t understand or don’t like what’s written within. On the other hand, the one who disagrees, then decides to ignore, dismiss, reject or change it, the same has no love for all three. Given the reality that this is what Christians are doing with the Bible today, one has to say they make up what must be called, the Continue reading “The Loveless Church”
