Filled with Jesus

“The reason the world is not seeing Jesus is because people are not filled with Jesus.” – Smith Wigglesworth. Although he made that statement 90 years ago, it is the same reason the world is not seeing Jesus today. He was a man filled with Jesus and his life’s mission was to fill others with Jesus. Before he could accomplish such though, he had to get the devil out of them! So trapped by the devil were many, they were one step away from death. Some of them did die, but because he was filled with Jesus he was able to bring them back to life again. Wigglesworth knew it is appointed for man to die once….. Hebrews 9:27, but he also knew it was not their appointed time. Continue reading “Filled with Jesus”

The Sole Source of Truth

Teaching from Romans 1:26, the old preacher shared with his class the moral destruction that came into a church because of one lesbian woman. I gather that because of weak leadership and spiritual immaturity nothing was done to put a stop to it. But he certainly did so. He said, “When I got there I was an angry man and I tore into that bunch and said, you that are not going to live right, get out those doors and don’t you come back here anymore. I pronounce the judgment of God upon you!” Unlike too many church leaders today, the old pastor knew who he was in Christ, and as a result he knew his authority in Christ. Starving For the Word of God

Can you imagine yourself as a 91 year old Christian who’s been waiting 50 years for your first Bible – or 40, 30, 20 years, depending on your age? It’s commonplace in China. The 91 year old is not featured in this video clip but no doubt his reaction would be the same as those who are featured in it. If the reports are correct there are 100 million Christians in that nation, but less than half are in possession of a Bible. It’s hard to imagine people starving for the word of God but no doubt that’s their experience, as it will be for the Christians in North Korea and all Muslim-oppressed countries. I wonder if their experience will become ours in the rest of the world as we face the days ahead. Continue reading “Starving For the Word of God”

God Jumps for Joy!

I asked the lady from the front office how she was enjoying her work. She said the work was fine, but the work environment was horrible. She was not referring to work space, lighting or ventilation, but rather, the human, relational environment. “There’s no fun around here anymore, Roger. It used to be a joy to come here, but now, everybody is so politically correct – and so joyless!” She was old-school, pining for the days back when nobody was afraid to say the “wrong” thing or tell a joke, politically correct or not. Later, when working with her colleagues and bosses in the board room it was clearly evident that those days were gone for her in that place. Continue reading “God Jumps for Joy!”

Enemies of the Cross of Christ

In a private conversation, the pastor said he would be willing to preach on any subject except holiness. That was the beginning of his downfall. The Reverend and his deacons rejected the prophecy given the church for future directions. That was the beginning of their downfall. The elder gave the church a false report regarding the outcome of a meeting the church had voted on. He ignored the Lord’s warning to put it right. That was the beginning of his downfall. The pastor of the church ignored the same warning. That was the beginning of his downfall. In all cases the end of the downfalls took years rather than months to eventuate, but eventuate, they did. Continue reading “Enemies of the Cross of Christ”

The Attack on Truth

The Christian cake-maker is asked to make a wedding cake for the same-sex couple, she says no, and all hell breaks loose in the USA. The Muslim cake-maker is asked to do the very same thing, he says no, and nobody speaks a word against him. Bible-only Christianity refuses to sanction same-sex marriage and all hell breaks loose everywhere. Islam, Mormonism and Roman Catholicism refuse to sanction the same and nobody speaks a word against them. So what does all this mean? It means that same-sex marriage is not the real issue, truth is the real issue! Bible-only Christianity possess truth, the others pervert truth, Continue reading “The Attack on Truth”

Mouth-muzzled Wimps

Bible Christians speaking up for God don’t go too many days without someone challenging them on His existence. “What proof?” they ask. “Where is He?” they ask. “I see no evidence of God,” they say. Some people are mildly curious, but most are not; they’re simply smoke-screening. The same applies to the sneering, the cynical and the silly among them who take delight in speaking to us of God as, “Your imaginary friend.” We do meet the odd person, however, who is willing to hear our message because they don’t like the message of murderous religious tyrants, lying and deceiving political tyrants and bullying, politically correct tyrants. “Tell me more,” they say. This is No Time to be Bounced like Yo-Yo’s

Social media sites give clear indication that Christians have not lost their fondness for slogans and quotations. Preachers love them; few there are who don’t use them in their sermons. I too am fond of them, but not at the expense of the Scriptures. No matter how clever, how profound, or how inspiring they can be, none will ever be enough to sustain a Christian’s walk with the Lord. Only the Scriptures of the Bible are capable of that. Satan loves slogans and quotations too! He would much prefer us to have a head full of those than a heart full of Scriptures. With the former he can bounce us like yo-yo’s; with the latter, we can “bounce” him! Continue reading “This is No Time to be Bounced like Yo-Yo’s”
