Rapture and Revelation – ‘Welcome to the End Time’

As a new Christian I was often encouraged and exhorted to know why I believed what I believed about my Christian faith. I was told that new Christians are prime targets of the cults and that, “they will quickly chew you up and spit you out if you don’t have a sound theology on this.”

Today, it would be unwise to limit this warning to the cults. A far greater chewing up and spitting out is now taking place within the church, not without. The age of apostasy is well and truly upon us  – false preachers standing in pulpits and false teachers sitting in home-study groups are chewing up and spitting out ignorant and gullible (as well as lazy) Christians both new and old, all over the globe … and Continue reading “Rapture and Revelation – ‘Welcome to the End Time’”

Dump All From the Religious Spirit

In reference to her current job, a lady told me the other day that she had regretted not seeking fuller clarification during the interview, as to the meaning of certain words and phrases communicated to her by the job interviewer, regarding her job function. It brought to mind a favorite expression used by the communication gurus, “Say what you mean and mean what you say.” The gurus tell us that, ‘saying what we mean’ is more than simply choosing words and expressing them, because they have at least three meanings: what Continue reading “Dump All From the Religious Spirit”

The Beginning Has Begun!

A young lady was brutally raped and murdered in our town recently, sending shock-waves throughout the entire nation. A week later over twenty thousand people gathered for a peace march in her memory in the street where she went missing. As a proclaimer of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I couldn’t help but note how biblical the comments, made by people in the march. I’m incredibly heartened that so many people believe in the message of peace and hope. Hope is more important than fear. Peace is more important than violence. It’s all about hope and peace, let’s encourage peace and love amongst each other. We will not live in fear. “If only,” I Continue reading “The Beginning Has Begun!”

They Will Cower in Their Pulpits and Pews

The other day I heard a radio gospel preacher tell his audience that Christians don’t really care about God. He said they like to go to church, they like to sing and listen to the music, they like to listen to the sermons, they like to sometimes read their Bibles, but still, “they don’t care about God.” I couldn’t help but wonder what the average church audience’s response in my nation would be if he was to preach that from their pulpit. I believe they would be offended! Christians who are reluctant to face up to truth are always offended. Offence is a sign that the truth has hit them where it hurts most. A Christian not offended, might Continue reading “They Will Cower in Their Pulpits and Pews”

It Bowed To Jesus Big-time!

A Government Senator, on a questions and answers TV program was asked if he believed in God. He didn’t. He doesn’t think it matters. He believes people ought to live their lives according to their own values and treat others, “the way you want to be treated and live by those values and if there’s a God then they will work it out if it’s a problem for me (whatever that means). But some people need spirituality. Some people need belief. That’s fine. It comforts people. That’s their decision. Mine is I don’t feel I need it and I try and live my life according to my own values and I think that’s all that matters.” No originality expressed there; that Continue reading “It Bowed To Jesus Big-time!”

How’s That For Discrimination!

The Prime Minister pulled out of an upcoming speaking engagement at the Australian Christian Lobby’s national conference after learning of some comments made by its leader during a debate on same-sex marriage. She said his comments were “offensive” and therefore it would be “inappropriate” for her to attend. The ACL leader says she acted hastily in response to inaccurate media reporting and misrepresentation by gay activists” predicting many would see her withdrawal from the conference as “the abandonment of the Christian constituency.” Given that she’s an atheist, Continue reading “How’s That For Discrimination!”

A Lacking Ingredient in the Church

One pastor told his people recently, “Jesus is no longer in the church. He left it years ago and will not return unless there is a genuine repentance and the people truly make Him Lord of their lives.” He was an American pastor, referring to his own nation, but he could have said the same about my nation Australia, or any other nation in the Western world too for that matter. Another Pastor told his people, “Understanding the Bible creates a burning heart: burning with gratitude, joy, exhilaration, hope, confidence, faith, enthusiasm, excitement. The better you understand Scripture the more joy you have.” Both statements are true; the latter Continue reading “A Lacking Ingredient in the Church”

Who Is This Woman Claiming To Be The Blessed Virgin Mary?

I learned recently of a man who’d been trapped in a cult for sixteen years. The cult leader was a woman, who had so bewitched her group that they believed it without question when she told them she was God; not just a messenger of God or, not just God’s right hand man woman, but God Himself herself! When the woman got sick and died, he got his wake up call. He realized then that he’d been duped and for the first time in years he began to ask questions. Today he says, “My faith is still, I think, strong, but I’m not afraid to doubt and I’m not afraid to question.” The question many ask is, “How could he be so foolish?” Maybe it’s Continue reading “Who Is This Woman Claiming To Be The Blessed Virgin Mary?”

God Is Intolerant Of Your Tolerance

Lately I’ve been giving serious thought to the first two Commandments of God, And God spoke all these words, saying: I am the LORD your God……You shall have no other gods before Me……you shall not bow down to them nor serve them…. Exodus 20:1-5. Dwelling on those commandments causes me to give serious thought to those in Christendom who have allowed themselves to be seduced into believing they should be tolerant of other religions. The pressure for religious tolerance is coming from everywhere – media, academia, government, plus the church itself. “Tolerance should be the order of the day,” so say the fraudulent Continue reading “God Is Intolerant Of Your Tolerance”

Now That’s Power!

The pastor told a few men in his church that if they wanted the power of God, the quickest way to get it was to undertake a six week fast, which is what he once did. The men were impressed; in his ministry they saw he had the power. As well as being an excellent expository preacher and teacher, he regularly demonstrated the revelation gifts of the Holy Spirit – the word of wisdom, knowledge and discerning of spirits. Given that these gifts of the Spirit, including the inspiration and power gifts Continue reading “Now That’s Power!”
