Not Just a Jewish Peasant!

Like all Protestant churches built long years ago, no doubt the congregants of this one in my town would have confessed, proclaimed and sung, The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust….. Psalm 18:2. In sermons and songs they would have had zero doubts as to, who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? Psalm 18:31. Not so today! The Rock of the LORD, Christ and the Bible have all been tossed out. Go there today and you will hear, “There is no God, in the usual sense of an interventionist deity – what we strive for is a presence both within and beyond us.” Sounds a bit like Genesis 3:5. Satan Goes to Church

And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake…… Matthew 10:22. In my 30-plus years as a Christian, that Scripture has not been among the favorites of preachers, teachers or evangelists I’ve sat under, unless they relegated it back to the apostles of Christ’s day, the martyrs of Foxe’s book or other persecuted Christians of yesteryear in foreign lands. I suspect that’s the experience of many Christians in the Western world going back the same time. No wonder so many dear brothers and sisters in Christ are perplexed with what’s happening today as they experience this hatred coming upon them in their own “Christian country” so-called. Religious Child Abuse

I see atheist and Jesus Christ-denier Richard Dawkins’ claim that, “Teaching children to accept their families’ religious beliefs is child abuse,” is gathering support among like-minded atheists and Christ-deniers. Apart from knowing he is an atheist and Jesus Christ-denier, I know little else about Mr Dawkins. Many such people have come and gone before him with others waiting in the wings to take his place when he’s gone. And, at 75 years of age, perhaps it won’t be long before he is gone. Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow Psalm 144:4. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away James 4:14. Keep Trampling!

Said the seventy disciples of Jesus to Jesus upon their return from ministry, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name Luke 10:17. When was the last time you heard your church leaders tell you demons are subject to you in Jesus name? Better still, when was the last time you actively confirmed that as reality for yourself? If, in both cases it was recently, then praise God for them and thank God for you. You are one of the few in this Laodicean age of the church that Satan and his crowd are truly afraid of. In fact, such Christians are the only people he and his are afraid of. They’re not afraid of those who know the truth of this, only those who act on the truth of it. Siding with Immorality

Quote: “The meaning of the Scripture is the Scripture and if you don’t get the meaning right you don’t have the revelation.” – John MacArthur. If every Christian approached the Scriptures of the Bible with the truth of that statement in mind there would be far less confusion for all both in the church and in the world. MacArthur’s statement impresses me, but better than that, it motivates me to turn it into a prayer for seeking the mind of the Holy Spirit. Praying for Scripture revelation will not have us meekly succumbing to infantile accusations of being unloving, intolerant, homophobic etc, for refusing to embrace same-sex marriage views held by too many church leaders today. Limit Yourself to the Bible

The Protestant Bible theologian asked the Roman Catholic priest, “Do you feel that a person can go to heaven apart from a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ?” The priest replied, “Definitely.” Handing him a Roman Catholic translation of the Bible, the theologian then asked the priest to cite a book or a chapter or a verse where it teaches such a belief. Omitting to take the Bible, the priest told him, “I’m not limited to the Bible.” Whilst he said the Bible is important and that he reads Scripture every day, of equal importance to him are reason, logic, common sense, church history, Church Tradition, personal feelings and opinions. Think of the Lord as Reality

Nearly thirty years ago I wrote a letter to a very dear friend testifying of my new-found faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Fourteen years later when we met again, he remained the same dear friend, but no mention was made of the letter. Five years after that we met again. This time he did ask about the changes within me and when I mentioned it was all due to Jesus, he didn’t dispute that. He had grown up knowing of the hypocrisies of both Protestants and Roman Catholics fighting and killing one another and saw nothing in that kind of “Christianity” to attract him to the things of God. Praise God though that he didn’t think of Jesus as a hypocrite, a fighter or a killer. Continue reading “Think of the Lord as Reality”

God Has a Doomsday Clock Too

I see the people at The Bulletin of the Atomic Sciences have kept their Doomsday Clock at 3 minutes to midnight for the second January in a row. “Doomsday Clock reflects grave threat to the world” is the headline of one media outlet. According to Wikipedia, “Concerns amid continued lack of global political action to address global climate change, the modernization of nuclear weapons in the United States and Russia, and the problem of nuclear waste,” are the reasons the clock time has not changed. A Bulletin spokesman, says, “Unless we change the way we think, humanity remains in serious danger.” Serious danger or not, don’t they know humanity is not into doom and gloom messages? Remember What We Were Like

In discussions with a Christian brother regarding these end times and the world’s increasing godlessness, he sometimes allows his frustrations to get the better of him. “Why can’t these people see it?” he asks. “Why are they so blind as to what’s going on in the world?” My response is not one he’s not heard numerous times before, “They are not God’s people, they belong to the devil and it’s his job to keep them blind.” 2 Corinthians 4:4. “I know,” is his regular response to “Remember what we were like.” That settles him down for that particular discussion, but only for that one. The next time he calls it’ll be on again! I notice similar frustrations coming from Christians on “social” media. Continue reading “Remember What We Were Like”

Their Nagging Conscience

In his sermon the pastor asked the church, “Why don’t people believe in Jesus?” Answer: “It’s not because there’s no evidence. It’s because they hate the light. The light exposes their sin.” Then he asked, “Why are people angry at Christians?” Answer: “We testify that their deeds are evil.” Praise God for such a pastor in this Laodicean (lukewarm) age of the church Revelation 3:14 -18. Jesus said it clearly, The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify that its works are evil John 7:7. Don’t doubt it for a moment; by our changed lives in Christ we testify to the world the reality of Jesus’ words spoken first to His (at the time) unbelieving half-brothers.
