In a discussion on good versus evil, most of the participants agreed with the host’s motto: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Whilst not disagreeing, the Christian Bible teacher among them reminded the group, “There’s another one before that,” You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might Deuteronomy 6:5 cf. Matthew 22:37-38. The Christ-less ones among them grabbed hold of the Golden Rule firmly, but willingly overlooked the first and great commandment. The consensus was that if you are a good person you’ll get along with people. The Bible teacher asked, “But how are you going to get along with God?” Continue reading ““I think” The god of Self-opinion”
Politicians, Leftist and Intellectual Chatterers
According to a recent survey here, the greatest concern for 69% of Australians is the increase of Islamic State atrocities. By comparison, only 37% show any concern about climate change. Rather interesting, I find. When listening to Politicians, Leftist and Intellectual chatterers, one can be forgiven for thinking it’s the other way round. It goes to show just how out of touch the latter crowd is. Or does it? Maybe not. Maybe they’re in touch but have different agendas in any case, for the meantime. Mind control is what it’s all about for “those in the know” with this lot and “man-made” climate change propaganda serves a grander purpose for them than ISIS; enhanced reputation, influence, money! Only one Book
“There are lots of books that can change your thinking; there is only one Book that can change your nature – and your eternal destiny.” – John MacArthur. Praise God for books that can change one’s thinking! Were it not for such books I don’t know where I would be today, mentally and physically. Prior to discovering and embracing them in my late thirties, reading of any kind was not high on the list of my priorities unless it had to do with music. Small was my world and small was my thinking; that’s the reality I discovered after reading a couple of books written for the purposes of changing one’s thinking. Continue reading “Only one Book”
Blasphemers of Truth
Said one famous preacher to another famous preacher, “I can say I believe the Bible and make those words mean anything I want them to mean.” True story! How’s that for arrogance! At the time that statement was made both men had churches with large and growing memberships. Thirty-odd years later the man who made the boast lost his church and his ministry went downhill. For all that, I get no pleasure in writing this because it was through his ministry that I was introduced to the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only was I introduced, but drawn irresistibly so, and that has never ceased in thirty years. Continue reading “Blasphemers of Truth”
Billy said, “Jesus said….”
“With everybody trying to tell us what to do, you are to wonder who to know whose word is true.” These words from a Johnny Cash song came to mind recently when listening to men of God on You Tube pulling down another man of God. And I mean men of God, not religious men of the flesh or of the devil. They’re in on the act too, but that can be expected. The man of God being pulled down is Billy Graham, who also features on Cash’s song, proclaiming that which he has never failed to proclaim throughout his near seventy-year ministry, “Jesus said….” Neither has he in all those years ever failed to proclaim, “The Bible says….!” Continue reading “Billy said, “Jesus said….””
Be Absolutely Certain
If you do an Internet search you’ll see various reasons why born-again Christians are hated, but one that I readily identify with is, “Their certainty; they are so certain they’re in possession of the truth.” Well, it’s true, we are. We’re in possession of the truth because Truth possesses us – His name is Jesus! We don’t have to be apologetic for this reality; there’s no need for silly false humility. We possess the truth and those offended by that can go to hell. Am I writing this “with attitude“? Not at all. Hell is the destiny for all choosing not to be in possession of truth. Nobody is without excuse Romans 1:20. The truth we possess and the certainty that comes with it, Jesus offers freely to all. Continue reading “Be Absolutely Certain”
Driven by a Spirit of Wickedness
The online newspaper headline reads, “Let God be a ‘she’, says Church of England women’s group.” First they got their female priests, then they got their female bishops, and now they want their female God! That’s not what they’re saying but that’s what they mean. The Bible’s male language and imagery describing God, doesn’t suit so they want to overhaul it in their official liturgy. Quote: “He (God) encompasses gender; he is both male and female and beyond male and female. So when we only speak of God in the male form, that’s actually giving us a deficient understanding of who God is.” What? They don’t wish to refer to God as “He” yet they express Him as such in this silly argument! Continue reading “Driven by a Spirit of Wickedness”
Expressing Contempt for the Bible
A transgender member of the Church of England, who was born and baptized female but now identifying as male, approached the local Reverend seeking to be re-baptized. If the report is true, the Reverend thought it a good idea and acted on it. “We created a service, which was an affirmation of baptismal vows where we could introduce him to God with his new name and his new identity.” Now the Reverend wants the synod to recognize the need for transgender people to be welcomed and affirmed in their parish church and make this “ceremony” part of official church doctrine. So here we have yet another example of religious people expressing contempt for the Bible. Continue reading “Expressing Contempt for the Bible”
Religious, not Righteous
In reference to the ‘Yes’ win in Ireland’s same-sex marriage referendum, one man posted on Twitter, a photograph of a rainbow over the city of Dublin with the comment, “There’s a rainbow over Dublin currently. Very appropriate. God clearly approves.” The god of his creation clearly approves; the God of all Creation clearly does not. That rainbow is no sign of a blessing from God. On the contrary, it is a sign that the city and the nation are now officially under His curse and judgment. Romans 1:18-32 gives the full story: God gave them up to vile passions…. God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting…. Continue reading “Religious, not Righteous”
