“Fear not.” “Be not afraid.” “You shall not be afraid.” “You shall not fear.” We see those encouraging phrases expressed by the LORD God Almighty many times over in the Bible. Whilst some say there’s one for every day of the year, I didn’t find that to be the reality in correct context from the Authorized KJV and Strong’s Concordance. But I didn’t find it to matter either. What matters to me is God said it – all glory to Him! What also matters to me too though is the following quote: “Fear makes compromisers out of people, courage causes people to stand firm.” – John MacArthur. Continue reading “The Words of Eternal Life”
God Doesn’t Bless Confusion or “Cleverness”
“Deeper knowledge of the truth of God requires knowledge of earlier simpler truths without which the deeper truths will never be revealed.” – John Walvoord. He made that statement in the context of biblical end-times prophecy and the reluctance for some people to accept what the Bible declares God will bring to pass in the end-times. At this point, may it also help us as God’s people to understand why members of various cults and false religions under Christianity’s banner so-called, don’t readily accept our message, the true gospel of Jesus Christ, when we proclaim it to them. They don’t, not so much because they won’t, but because they can’t. Continue reading “God Doesn’t Bless Confusion or “Cleverness””
So What’s the Idolatry?
Satan the devil must be very pleased indeed with the church leaders and many Christians presently. What with so much talk, protest, criticism and abuse among us regarding, abortion, same-sex marriage, climate change, Israel, the Democrats, the Republicans, the USA Presidential election, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, how could he not be pleased? How he loves to see us sneering and snarling, ripping and tearing at one another over these issues when he knows full well there is a much greater issue by far being ignored, except by himself and God. The much greater issue? Idolatry! The many heated exchanges on “social” media show it to be so. Continue reading “So What’s the Idolatry?”
Jesus Will See To It
A man once told me he found friends outside the church to be, “better than those inside the church. They’re more loyal, more trustworthy and more reliable by far.” Sadly, most of them in his church did turn out to be disloyal, untrustworthy and unreliable, nevertheless, I asked, “How many of the outsiders would remain your friend if you told them they needed the Savior Jesus Christ to save their eternal soul from eternal damnation?” When I told my friends that truth over 31 years ago the gap between us got wider and wider until one day it became a chasm! The same thing happened with my family members. That’s the reality of the Christian gospel; truth divides! Continue reading “Jesus Will See To It”
These Make-believe Outraged Hypocrites
He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first John 8:7. These words of Jesus were the first to come to mind when hearing and reading comments from the many self-righteous wolves ripping and tearing into Donald Trump for his sexual remarks about women that he made to someone as a private citizen in a private conversation eleven years ago. After Jesus’ words came those of an old song from country singer, Hank Williams – “A tongue can accuse and carry bad news, the seeds of distrust it will sow. But unless you’ve made no mistakes in your life, be careful of stones that you throw.” B Dodd. That’s right! We’d better be careful, each one of us. Righteousness-conscious Christians
The Anglican Bishop of a major rural city here is the latest to date, publicly declaring support for same-sex marriage. There’s nothing surprising about that of course, but for any Bible Christians wondering how such a decision can be made based on what the Bible says about marriage, this is how it’s done. The Bishop’s quote: “The Bible teaches marriage is for man and woman, that is pretty clear and that is our standard position.” See how it looks like he stands for the word of God? It’s always wise to wait for the “But,” to follow however. There has to be a “But,” always, otherwise such people can’t support same-sex marriage. We Who Have the Mind of Christ
All glory to God! Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus Philippians 2:5. How gracious of God Almighty that He should grant His redeemed ones the mind of the Lord. Whenever I’m asked to give the difference between what it is Bible Christians believe verses those of other religious people, my response is, we have the mind of Christ – “God’s own mind in fact!” 1 Corinthians 2:16. Some people scoff at that answer, others get angry, but then there’s the odd one every so often who gives no outward response, but it is discernible that he or she is giving serious contemplation to what they’ve just heard. Stop Getting Run Over by People who don’t Know God
“God doesn’t expect us to get run over by people who don’t know Him.” – Lester Sumrall. This post is dedicated to my fellow Christians who are getting run over by people who don’t know God. Certainly, we are called to turn the other cheek Matthew 5:39, when insulted and persecuted for righteousness’ sake, but it is wise too to balance that with Jesus’ promise, You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to Me…… Acts 1:8. Much attention can be given to the first Scripture while not much attention can be given to the second one. If you give it as much attention, you’ll get a lot less run over by that crowd. God-sent Strong Delusion
A 30’s something 5′ 9″ white male interviewed individually some US University students about how they view identity in America. His questions to each: “If I told you I was a woman ….. a Chinese woman….. a 7 year old…. 6′ 5″ tall, what would your response be?” For someone brought up in an era when mental abnormalities could well have meant certification to a mental home till one was certified otherwise, it was not a pleasant experience watching them answer with “tortured logic” doing “mental gymnastics.” The Communists are achieving their goals with these young people so far; what happens to them in the future doesn’t look promising either! Hypocrites in the Church
“And now, my dear friends, let me counsel you. The grand thing the church needs at this time is God’s Holy Spirit.” – Charles H. Spurgeon. I wonder how many “amen”s he received from his people the morning he made that statement nearly 160 years ago. Not many, I suspect, for he was referring to the need for holiness in the church. He had observed the so-called powerful, “spiritually-gifted” men and women in action, he’d witnessed their clever methods for evangelism and church growth plus their sophisticated ways of preaching so as to attract non-believers over and above true believers and none of it impressed him because next to none of it was energized by the Holy Spirit.
