My God is Your God. My Bible is Your Bible.

When proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to people, there has always been the odd one or two to firmly let me know they are not interested in knowing about, “your God” or “your Bible.” Amazingly, such has even been expressed by church affiliated people! Who, “their god ” might be, they are not able to tell me. “I believe in God,” they will say, but unless they believe the God of the Bible, they don’t believe in God at all! How can they? The First Commandment of God: I am the LORD your God…… You shall have no other gods before Me Exodus 20:1-2. This Commandment, plus His other nine, were given not to the Jews alone, but to the entire peoples of the world. It’s important every person understands that.

Why did God give us the Ten Commandments? Answers: To show us He is personal, most holy and righteous. To show us His high moral standard. To show us we are loved by God. To show us we are most unholy, unrighteous, immoral sinners. To show us we are in desperate need of the Savior Jesus Christ for salvation. To show us we are called to be holy, righteous and moral people. To show us that by knowing Jesus Christ personally, we know God Himself personally. But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for faith which would afterward be revealed……

Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified through faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor Galatians 3:22-25. Everybody not justified through faith in Christ then, the Ten Commandments remain your school master! Not believing this doesn’t change the fact of this. And so, my God is your God. My Bible is your Bible. One God! One Bible! All people who have reached the age of accountability are accountable to God; all are judged according to His standards revealed and declared from the Scriptures. Jesus said, He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him – the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day John 12:48.

All people can rightly say they are not interested in knowing about “your church practices” or “your denomination” or “your religious dogmas”, but they cannot rightly say they are not interested in God, Jesus Christ or the Bible. All are commanded to know these. True, free will is granted to all, but the outcomes don’t change; they’re already determined. Reject the promise of eternal life with God and you inherit the promise of eternal death without God. What is eternal death? Unlike physical death which is a one-time experience, eternal death is an everlasting or never-ending bad experience. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire Revelation 20:15. This vision of John the apostle will be the reality for many.

I’ve never bothered to check if it is factual, but apparently the more highly educated people are and the more influential or powerful they are, the less they believe the laws of the land apply to them as they do to the rest of us. And setting aside for a moment the biblical fact that without Christ people are liars, immoral, unprincipled and unethical, does this explain why so many highly educated, influential and powerful ones see themselves as above the need to obey the laws of God? Does this explain why they scoff at their need to humble themselves and repent? I believe it does. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards; not many were influential; not many….. 1 Corinthians 1:26 ESV.

Those without respect for laws, whether society’s or God’s, are a law unto themselves. They are their own god in fact. How does God describe such people? Lawless! Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness 1 John 3:4. Hence the increasingly sorry state the nations of the world are finding themselves in; made up of multitudes of lawless people of all ages. Highly educated, influential and powerful, or non-educated, non-influential and powerless, it makes no difference, lawlessness is running rampant all across the globe. And sadly, unless God divinely intervenes to quell lawlessness for a period, things can be expected to get increasingly worse until Jesus returns to deal with it once and for all.

Everything said thus far refers to individuals. How about nations? Take leaders for example – judges, mayors, governors, local, state and federal government leaders. All the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God put in his heart 2 Chronicles 9:23. What would happen if leaders of nations sought wisdom from men of God? What would happen if they sought the biblical God themselves on behalf of such? Certainly we are called to pray for all in authority 1 Timothy 2:2-3, but what might happen if they prayed too? They would receive the same wisdom the kings received. God is waiting this very moment to impart His wisdom to leaders. In past and recent history they did it and God answered.

Whether they were men of God or not, God answered the prayers of British Prime Minister Churchill and American President Roosevelt during World War Two. Had they not prayed, German and Japanese would be the primary languages spoken today in the Allied nations, not English. God answered the prayers of multitudes of leaders, both civil and military during that time. Were they all Christians? No, I don’t believe so. But they knew there was a God in heaven who could be prayed to; they learned that as children from parents, grand parents, priests, pastors and Sunday school teachers. They were not too proud to pray for wisdom and safety on behalf of the people under their leadership. They didn’t scoff at Psalm 91 in those days of peril!

God’s warning to the kings (leaders, judges, governors, prime ministers, presidents etc.) of the nations: Now therefore, be wise O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear…. Psalm 2:10-11. God’s instructions to the same people: Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him; all nations shall serve Him Psalm 72:11. These are just a couple of things God has to say to leaders and nations; there are plenty more where they came from! It changes nothing for God that kings no longer respect His Commandments or adhere to Judeo/Christian values; they are still going to be judged by Him according to them. God has only one standard and all not measuring up to it will pay dearly if they don’t have a change of heart and mind.

Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth has fallen in the street, and equity (straight-forwardness) cannot enter Isaiah 59:14. That’s right, leaders! And (most of) you, along with (most) church leaders are responsible for this increasingly sick and sorry situation today in the Western world. Your nation’s Constitutions were founded upon Judeo/Christian values, based upon God’s Ten Commandments. When they were adhered to, God stood with leaders even though they may have been unaware of that reality. The result of such meant society worked the way it was designed to work for the most part; rules and laws were respected; those who violated them paid the price.

But look at you today. Those of you who think it’s politically correct to kick those values and Commandments to the curb are far from clever; you are most foolish indeed. You with your Christ-despising, devil-inspired Communist/Marxist/Socialist ideology, look at the mess you are creating! Do you know what God says to you? Dwell on these Scriptures and take them to heart: He who sits in the heavens laughs; the LORD scoffs at them Psalm 2:4. The LORD laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming Psalm 37:13. But You, O LORD, shall laugh at them; You shall have all the nations in derision Psalm 59:8. What follows the laughing? If you don’t humble yourself before Him now while you live, judgment follows.

So now, individuals, leaders of nations, leaders in nations, plus nations themselves – all of you are accountable before God. Believe it or believe it not, the ultimate reality never changes. My God is your God. My Bible is your Bible. For most of you reading this post, you have never thought this through. You have looked at the things of God, Jesus Christ, the Gospel, the Bible, Christians and Christianity superficially and you have said to yourself, “None of this applies to me.” Yes it does. It applies as much to you as it does to me. There is nothing special about me; there is nothing special about you. As God has called me to Himself through Christ, He calls you to Himself through Christ. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.
