Be Absolutely Certain

If you do an Internet search you’ll see various reasons why born-again Christians are hated, but one that I readily identify with is, “Their certainty; they are so certain they’re in possession of the truth.” Well, it’s true, we are. We’re in possession of the truth because Truth possesses us – His name is Jesus! We don’t have to be apologetic for this reality; there’s no need for silly false humility. We possess the truth and those offended by that can go to hell. Am I writing this “with attitude“? Not at all. Hell is the destiny for all choosing not to be in possession of truth. Nobody is without excuse Romans 1:20. The truth we possess and the certainty that comes with it, Jesus offers freely to all.

Reality check: “The religion of Christ was dogmatic in its claims, unrelenting in its demands, and at cross-purposes with self-centered human beings who seek to be their own god.” – Wilbur M Smith. That’s it in a nutshell! That’s the reason we are hated; we stand for everything they despise. Ever wondered why Roman Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Bible-compromising Protestants come at you like dragons breathing fire? Ever wondered why man-made climate change, same-sex marriage and Islam-is-a-peace-loving-religion advocates seek to tear us apart? Truth is the reason; we possess it, they don’t. Too, these people know they don’t possess truth; that’s why they use abusive, accusing, bullying tactics in their defenses against us.

We are a threat to such people. They can’t match us with logic in their arguments so the only resources left to them are those of the bully – religious, corporate, political or whatever. Notice too how emotional they become using those tactics. To us who possess the truth, we can read them like a book – uncertain, unsure, insecure and very angry! Or I should say it is the Spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit living within us who reads them as such. It is a Spirit to spirit clash – the Holy Spirit exposing the unholy spirits within them. There’s always only one Winner in such clashes and those unholy spirits know it. Spiritual warfare is what we’re engaging in and they know they’ve lost the battle before it has even begun. That’s why the people themselves carry on in the manner they do.

In response to a pastor’s biblical perspective on man-made climate change, I read this comment on social anti-social media: “Quoting passages of your book to me has the same affect as me quoting Harry Potter to you.” No it doesn’t. The person who wrote that tells a lie. If it really had the same effect he would not have written anything, he would simply have ignored the pastor. In fact, he would have switched off the moment he heard the first Scripture passage being quoted. The “passages of your book” affects everybody. They respond either by belief or unbelief. So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void…….. Isaiah 55:11. Harry Potter can’t top that!

An encouragement to newly born-again Christians: Latch on to your certainty right away. Avoid becoming one of those Christians sitting in churches for thirty or more years who are being tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine….. Ephesians 4:14. Settle it now in your spirit, every word of the Bible is the word of God. Confess to God daily, The entirety of Your word is truth and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever Psalm 119:160. Confess daily, Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him Proverbs 30:5. Confess to God daily, Your word is truth John 17:17. Confess daily, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for…….. 2 Timothy 3:16.

There is no surer way for you to believe that every word of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation is the word of God. A failure to confess such will have you tossed to and fro – guaranteed! Yes, your soul will remain saved but God will be unable to use you in any meaningful way. Believing the Bible is the only way to develop faith in God; out of faith comes your trust in God. This is what brings the certainty that you are in possession of the truth. That’s what makes you different from the others and it is a grand difference. Another encouragement: Your certainty will offend many close to you currently, and it will expose bullies. That’s okay; better to offend them with your certainty than to offend God with your uncertainty.

Be absolutely certain that Jesus Christ is who He says He is – God Almighty Incarnate, the Savior of the world and Lord of heaven and earth. Be absolutely certain of who you are in Him and who He is in you. There are hordes of influential men and women standing in church pulpits today who are not certain of these realities; they will never be certain; they don’t want to be certain! Like the Pharisees of old, they are religious frauds possessed by unholy spirits masquerading as the Holy Spirit. Their agenda is to strip you of your certainty. They want you tossed to and fro so as to be dependent on them for your thinking. Your certainty of who you are makes you an individualist in their eyes. That’s a serious no-no for them; they are cultural Marxists.

The moment your man opens his Bible then opens his mouth to speak on man-made climate change, same-sex marriage and Islam-is-a-peace-loving-religion, be absolutely certain, he does not represent Jesus Christ, he represents Karl Marx! The same applies if he speaks about poverty, the need for equality and distribution of wealth. Naturally they’ll quote Scriptures as they speak, but you will never hear the words, ‘blood of Jesus’ ‘holiness’ ‘righteousness’ ‘purity’ or ‘sanctification’ mentioned. Too, if they should speak of Israel, it will be spoken of with disdain and disparagement, never with respect and blessing. But don’t forget God’s promise for Israel which will never be rescinded, I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; Genesis 12:3.

Whether they speak from pulpits or podiums, be absolutely certain, you will not escape a cultural Marxist’s deception, confusion and lies unless you fully immerse yourself in the Holy Scriptures under the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit. Some arguments they bring are rather convincing, you will need the Holy Spirit to reveal to you from Scripture why you should reject them in any case. Psalm 1:1 makes it clear: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly. One reason many Christians are not blessed is because they hang off every word these ungodly people say. If Jesus Christ is not presented as Lord and the Bible not presented as the final authority on all matters, their teaching will do you great spiritual harm.

As a newly born-again Christian, be absolutely certain that science does not have all the answers. “I don’t look to religion, I go on what the science says,” said the phony woman as she squirmed in her seat to a question about God. There’s good science and there’s bad science. The problem is it’s the pseudo-scientist you have to be on the lookout for. He or she is the one sure to come at you using abusive, accusing, bullying tactics against your scientific certainty. How about these certainties revealed by God long before man revealed them. God sits above the (round) circle of the earth Isaiah 40:22. He hangs the earth on nothing (space) Job 26:7. The creation was not made of things which are visible Hebrews 11:3.

More: The host of heaven (stars) cannot be numbered Jeremiah 33:22. One star differs from another star 1 Corinthians 15:41. Air has weight Job 28:25. Light is not fixed, it moves Job 38:19-20. Winds blow in rotations Ecclesiastes 1:6. The channels of the sea (valleys and mountains) were seen 2 Samuel 22:16; Jonah 2:6. The sea has springs Job 38:16. The life of the flesh is in the blood Leviticus 17:11. You can inform your pseudo-scientist that there was a time in history when scientists agreed with none of those revelations! The genuine scientist will not be offended by your certainty, the disingenuous scientist will be and he’ll use every silly argument he can think of to silence you. Simply let those Scriptures speak and God will silence him at some point.

Regardless of when we were born again, the Holy Spirit wants us to be absolutely certain that when we stand on His word, we are the head, our haters are the tail. We are above, they are beneath Deuteronomy 28:13. The unholy spirits within them – jealousy, envy, pride, they know it absolutely too. What to do then? Love them, bless them, pray for them, preach to them. Those offended by us can go to hell if they want to and most will. But that is not God’s desire for any of them and it is not our desire either. Were it not for love, blessing, prayer, preaching – and truth – hell would be our destination too. Of that we can be absolutely certain. A proud and haughty man – “Scoffer” is his name; he acts with arrogant pride Proverbs 21:24. Repent and believe in the gospel Mark 1:15.
