She’s not Anti-Islamic, She’s Pro-Jesus!

In Washington DC, recently, a full Muslim worship service took place in what is known as the national house of prayer, the National Cathedral. Apparently chairs and pews were removed, with Islamic prayer rugs replacing them on the floor, all facing Mecca. It is reported that those invited sat with their backs to the cross on the wall because they find the symbol of Christ’s sacrifice offensive. At least that part is Scriptural; the cross is an offence Galatians 5:11. Chairs and pews were not all that were removed … so was a 50 year-old lady of the Lord, led by the Holy Spirit, to speak up for Jesus and condemn the apostasy taking place there.

The dean of the Cathedral, who has the title ‘The Very Reverend’ before his name, said he, “felt bad that the woman was so agitated, but I felt that it was an agitation that came out of a misunderstanding both of Islam and the kind of Christianity that the National Cathedral tries to represent.” Some Christians are asking who would throw a person out of a church for speaking up for Jesus and the cross? We have a clue with the dean … anyone who puts the title ‘The Very Reverend’ before his name would be more likely to do so than a dean who simply called himself plain old Gary Hall! Liberal Episcopal elites whose hearts are more for gun control and same sex marriage instead of the cross of Christ would throw such a person out. It seems he’s one of those.

A Communist in control of a church would throw someone out for speaking up for Jesus. So would a Marxist. So would a Modern Liberal. So would one who fears men more than He fears God. So would one whose reputation means more to him than Jesus Christ’s reputation. So would one who deep down is afraid of Muslims. So would one who does not know Jesus Christ personally as Savior and Lord. So would one who has no reverence and respect for the Bible. So would one who says he does not believe the claims of Jesus Christ. So would one who opens a church for homosexual marriages. So would a spiritual coward. Is the dean all of those things? I don’t know. Even if he stands for one, that would be enough to throw a person out of a church.

The dean’s Muslim guests are not the only people offended by the cross of Jesus Christ; so is the dean. No, he’s not offended by a cross hanging on the wall of his church, but he is offended by what the cross means. It means death … his death! On the cross Jesus died as our substitute; He sacrificed His life in exchange for our life. On the cross God made Jesus, who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him 2 Corinthians 5:21. That reality not only offends Muslims and ‘The Very Reverends’, it offends all who are closed in heart and mind to the gospel message of repentance and forgiveness of sin in Jesus’ name. That’s why the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing 1 Corinthians 1:18.

The cross of Jesus Christ is an offence to human pride. Especially is this so for those with titles such as ‘The Very Reverend’ before their name and a string of letters after their name – but not only those. It is an offence to all who refuse to die to self and take up their cross and follow Me Matthew 16:24. Self-denial is the name of the game for Disciples of Christ. That’s what the cross is designed to produce … no self-denial, no discipleship. Self-denial is the only way to get delivered from self-seeking and self-righteousness. Those delivered from such would never entertain the thought of allowing apostasy to take place in their church, let alone the act of it. Whether he knows or cares, the dean and his guests have blasphemed the name of Christ.

The cross of Jesus Christ is an offence to the sophisticated and the certificated – the worldly wise. Jesus and His gospel don’t bow to those things and that infuriates the possessor of them – they’re livid! Too, they are insulted by knowing God is going to, destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent 1 Corinthians 1:19; Isaiah  29:14. Also, don’t be fooled by ‘The Very Reverends’ and similar of this world, who tell you they doubt the claims of Jesus, revealed in the Bible. They lie to you. They know who He is! Why else do you think they spend time and energy coming up with all sorts of reasons to deny and reject Him? They are enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction…. Philippians 3:19.

A ‘Reverend Canon’ is reported to have said the National Cathedral was “a place of prayer for all people” and, “…….we worship the same God.” The Muslims don’t believe that; how naive of her to believe it. That’s if she does! If it’s true we all worship the same God, then we face a grand dilemma as to which God we should be listening to because the writings of the prophet Mohammed within the Koran are diametrically opposed to the writings of the prophets and apostles within the Bible. The first book denies Jesus Christ was God incarnated in flesh, the second book affirms He was. God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory 1 Timothy 3:16.

God is not the author of confusion 1 Corinthians 14:33. That means God doesn’t have two books! So which is it, Christian? Was Jesus God in flesh or was He not? If you say He was, then you have no right gathering in prayer with those who say He was not. Let ‘The Very Reverends’ and the ‘Reverend Canons’ do whatever they want, but you steer away from them 2 Corinthians 6:14-16. The commands in the Koran are diametrically opposed to the commands of the Bible. Mohammed’s instructions are to kill infidels; Jesus’ instructions are You shall not murder Exodus 20:13 and, love your enemies Matthew 5:44. As I’ve said before on this blog in non-related topics to this … God is not schizophrenic!

The protesting lady has been described as, “a lone anti-Islamic protester.” She’s not anti-Islamic, she’s pro-Jesus! She spoke up for Jesus, her Lord and Savior. At best, “a lone anti-Islamic protester” is the language of the unthinking, the emotional and the ignorant. At worst, it is the language of Communists, Marxists, Modern Liberals, Humanists, Religionists, the politically correct, the patronizing, the manipulator, the intimidator, the dominator, the spiritual coward, the fearful and … the fool! As God’s people, we are not to be seduced and silenced by the devil’s language. We do not hate Muslims. We don’t hate anyone. But we do love truth and the truth is there is no truth outside of Jesus Christ – the Truth. 

People say, “That’s extremism!” A Muslim man at that gathering accused the lady of that in a veiled way. Those of us who believe that faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone, by God’s grace alone, is the only way to have our sins forgiven and be granted eternal life in heaven, are extremists! Of course we are – but we’re not violent. The Lord God Almighty is an extremist. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life John 3:16. Jesus Christ is an extremist. I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me John 14:6. And, any deviation from those truths will send you to hell. Yes – that’s an extremist statement!

What took place at the National Cathedral in Washington DC, is extremely likely to take place in your church at some point not too far down the track. I believe God will allow it to happen to test the allegiance of His people. He is already testing the allegiance of His church leaders and heaps of them are being found wanting. God sees they’re not hesitating to compromise the Scriptures for the sake of personal reputation, plus all sorts of political correctness. Therefore, it’s only a matter of time before you’re going to hear your leader/s tell you, “We believe God is telling us we all worship the same God. It’s now time for us to set aside our differences with the Muslims and concentrate on what we have in common together. After all, they believe in Jesus too.”

Yes, the Muslims do believe in Jesus. Or rather, they believe in a Jesus, but it is not the Jesus written about in this post – the biblical Lord Jesus, the Savior of your soul! To accept their Jesus is to reject our Jesus. That you do, at your peril. Believe it or believe it not, it is the Lord Jesus all of us will stand before for Judgment. There is a judgment unto eternal security  and there is a judgment unto eternal damnation. Which one you end up in depends upon which Jesus you are putting your trust in. “Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last” – CT Studd. Take heed that no one deceives you……many false prophets will rise up and deceive many……But he endures to the end will be saved Matthew 24:4, 11, 13.
