Tools & Slaves in the Hands of The Angel of Light

An elderly lady suffering with cancer phoned to thank me for visiting her the day before, and for, “taking away my worries and fears.”  She said, “When you walked into the room, it was as though God came in, it was written all over your face.”  Then she asked me if I could call again soon, because, “I want to experience that again.” Another time a lady asked me to pray for her sore leg which had been troubling her for some weeks.  She too phoned the following day to inform me that she was healed and, “it was you who did that.”  A medical specialist asked me what my occupation (at the time) was.  When leaving, he shook my hand and bowed before me.

I visited a man who had on-going problems with his knee and when I laid hands on it and prayed for healing, he was quite emotionally overcome.  Two days later when I called again,  he had such a look of reverence on his face as he looked at me and said, “It’s as though Jesus Himself is with you.”  Another old lady used to always tell me the same thing when I visited her.  These experiences (there are several more) gave me tremendous insight into just how easy it would be for me to manipulate and control such people in their vulnerability.  How easy it would be for me to simply tell them whatever I wanted and they would believe it – especially when it came to relieving them of their money, for example.

But money is only one example.  As I spoke to these needy people about Jesus, I began to get insights into how quick such people are to receive and believe whatever is said without giving the slightest thought to the truth or possible errors of what it is they’re hearing.  It was during this time that I came into a fuller understanding of how people so easily become seduced by religions, denominations, priests, reverends, pastors and elders.  I could have told those people, “Jesus has told me to tell you….” or “The Lord Jesus would like you to give me….” or “I believe the Lord is impressing upon me right now that you are to….”  And, I have not the slightest doubt that if I had done so, they would have responded immediately.

Now, I do thank the Lord that what they saw and experienced was of Himself; He’s given that witness in Mark 16:20.  But God’s word also tell us that Satan the devil is a smooth operator in the religious world too, transforming himself into “an angel of light” 2 Corinthians 11:14.  Satan loves religion.  It is his special master-piece. Why?  Because he knows human beings love to operate their lives underpinned by feelings, appearances and experiences.  He knows human beings love and place great faith in what they can see, feel, and touch etc.  On the other hand, he also knows that those same human beings do not at all like to operate their lives on what they can’t see, feel or touch.

Hebrews 11:1 tells us that, “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  For this truth to become our reality it means we must abandon all reliance upon ourselves and others and place ourselves solely into the hands of the unseen and (most often), “unfelt” God.  We are to trust in the truth of God’s promises of mercy (forgiveness, salvation, guidance, healing and provisions) in Jesus Christ alone and depend sincerely upon them.  Human beings don’t like that kind of faith.  They’re adverse to anything such as that.  So, armed with this knowledge, Satan the devil goes into overdrive, bringing in substitutes galore!  Every one of these substitutes gives the ignorant and gullible the appearance that it’s the real thing.

On Sunday October 17, 2010, here in Australia, not only Roman Catholics, but non-religious, unbelievers, the politically correct, State and Federal politicians, celebrities of all kinds and (especially) the media; celebrated the canonization into sainthood of a nun who lived here from the mid-1800′s to the early 1900′s. Given the spirit of this nation, it is people such as these that have always demonstrated that they could care less for the things of the Biblical God, His Son the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible.  But not so when it comes to religious feelings, appearances and experiences.  Not so when it comes to that which they can see, feel, and touch.  Euphoric is the word that sums it up best.

“A moment of pride even for non-Catholics……a moment of joy for every Australian.”  These are the reported words of our Prime Minister who has publicly declared she doesn’t believe in God.  This dead nun is going to be known as St Mary of the Cross.  Whilst the nation is thrilled to hear that, not once have I heard any honor being given by anybody to the Lord Jesus Christ of the Cross!  They’ve run a mile from that!  As have two grandmothers who’s cancer cures were reportedly attributed to the prayers they prayed to this dead woman.  They claim (and their church has not denied it) that this saint prayed to God on their behalf.  Not only Roman Catholics, but the nation believes it.

As for these two women, they have no evidence of this whatsoever, but what does that matter?  They’re healed, so the feelings, the appearances and the experiences are all that matter.  Apparently one of these women played a major role in the service at Rome, bringing forward a relic of the dead nun in the form of some strands of her hair in a wooden cross.  They’ll be kept in The Vatican.   Another lady says she prayed to this dead nun and she was healed of leukemia in 1961.  She was brought to Rome by a major television Network.  Once again, nobody has any evidence that this long-dead, new saint was the catalyst to her healing.

An Australian nun, in Rome for this event, said they had prayed everything would go smoothly for Saint Mary’s big day.  “We prayed to St Joseph, that’s what you do, and he fixed it up,” she said.  One woman said she had recovered from epilepsy as a child after receiving support from the dead nun.  Further saying she felt it was a special day, “She means so much to me personally.  I feel she has been with me all the time.”  Such a practice border’s on necromancy, which the Biblical God strictly forbids Deuteronomy 18:11.  It doesn’t bring God’s blessing, it’s an abomination to Him.  This is not the work of God.  It is the “angel of light” in action.

The point of this post is not to cast aspersions on the reputation or the work that this nun did over one hundred years ago.  That is not in question.  What is in question is; in her death, where is the evidence that she was or is the instrument in answering these people’s prayers, or interceding to God on their behalf?  Faith cannot be claimed for this.  It is illegitimate faith.  Biblical faith tells us to trust in no man (or woman) but the Man Jesus Christ for all our needs.  Anything less is spiritual adultery – a serious sin.  It is also the sin of idolatry – it violates the 1st Commandment Exodus 20:1-3.  God is not schizophrenic.  He means what he says and it is unwise to ignore that truth.

The Bible also declares that when a person dies the body returns to the earth and the spirit returns to God who gave it Ecclesiastes 12:7. We are not told what happens at that point and it is presumptuous for anyone to say otherwise.  To presume upon God is to treat Him with great disrespect.  Which is exactly what we see taking place here. As stated earlier, no honor or glory has been given to the true God in any of this and to claim otherwise is to make a liar of Him when it’s lined up with His written word.  In my post: Why Are The People Not Told This?, I say, “no truth is ever found through the worship or adulation of dead people called saints, no matter how holy they were in life.”  But this is what is going on here.

Back to the people I wrote about at the start of this post.  They too either were, or had formerly been Roman Catholic practitioners and that is why they were so quick to bask in feelings, appearances and experiences.  They saw me as someone special in God and that’s why they expressed themselves in such manner.  Sadly too, over time they showed no real desire to want study the Bible for themselves so as they could embrace the biblical, unseen Jesus and stand on His promises alone.  The result being – as it is for all who rely only on what they can see, feel and touch – they continued to remain tools and slaves in the hands of the “angel of light.”

The word “deceive” is written in the New Testament fifteen times.  It means “delude,” “beguile,” “go astray,” “err,” “seduce,” “wander,” and “be out of the way.”  This is why the “angel of light” loves religion.  He knows that when religious people are ignorant of TRUTH and have no desire to seek it out, they will become gullible in the extreme, ripe to receive whatever substitute he can bring that gives them the appearance of being the real thing.  It started with the first man and women in the garden of Eden and the Bible tells us it will not cease until the Lord Jesus returns to this earth.  “…..For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.” Romans 16:18.

  1. Great post Roger. The workings of signs and wonders is and will continue to lead so many astray. I remember when it struck me how little people really seek the the truth behind people and the wonders. They are so quick to believe and put their trust in men thinking they are displaying power of God – when perhaps and often it is power of evil.

The love of the truth is what will save us, yet so few truly seek truth – it’s my prayer that more do.

    1. Thank you, Rachel. Yes, the march up to the fulfillment of Mark 13:22 is on now at an exponential rate. Church-goers everywhere have been well & truly primed, becoming a push-over for anybody who claims to speak & act for God.

  2. Roger, as usual you have presented your message in such a way that all I can add is, “Well done.” The fork in the road of relationship with God only has one choice that leads to the Narrow Gate. That choice is Jesus Christ. We can’t phone in our side of the relationship or send in a surrogate. Really enjoyed this and nodded throughout.

    1. Hi Lynn, thank you for your kind words and support. I’ve been giving idolatry some thought of late and which ever way one looks at it, self is at the center, always. When done in the name of Christ, how this must grieve Him.

      Bless you heaps
      Roger
