Ben invited me in for a chat when I introduced myself to him at his door. He said he was in his late seventies, an ex-digger who fought in New Guinea during the second world war, but now he was, “sick, divorced twice and happy with my lot.” He was a lovely old bloke but I did not believe that he really was happy with his lot. I had met numerous returned servicemen from wars and I knew many of them to be suffering in silence. He asked me why I was, “doing this kind of work” and my reply was, “so you don’t have to die alone and go into a Christ-less eternity.” Read the rest of this entry »
The New Testament tells Christians that God uses us, to make clear what it means to know the Lord Jesus Christ. It is like a fragrance that fills the air. To most people we are a deadly fragrance - a stench, a bad smell unto death, while to others we are a life-giving fragrance – a sweet smell that leads to eternal life. A messenger of the gospel can positively or negatively confirm that truth within moments, when he or she begins to open their mouth for Christ. 
The day Mrs Landers came to the door she immediately began to cry when I mentioned that I was from a local church, calling to give her a, “good message from the Lord Jesus Christ.” It was the first week of winter and she said to me, “Always at this time of the year I get sad and it lasts all winter. Would you come in please?”
