Reality Revelations

Testimonies to the practical reality, revelations and power of Jesus Christ in people's lives.

How else does one describe a church-goer who….?

The day I took a stand to reject the “religious” Jesus Christ of my imagination and embrace the biblical Lord Jesus Christ of truth, is the day I knew I would come under much sniggering, mockery, insults and abuse from unbelieving people, but I was not expecting the same from people who claimed to be Christian.  The venom spewed Read the rest of this entry »

I was testing your faith.

It was pouring with rain as I stood at the doorstep under my umbrella talking with the man.  Perhaps in his early thirties, he told me he’d done a lot of reading in recent times and was very proud to tell me that he’d, “read the Bible from cover to cover.”  However, he said that he couldn’t understand it’s relevance for him personally since he was not a Jew or a Christian.  I explained to him that the Bible is not an academic book, but rather, it is a spiritual book, and as such, one must be, “born again” to grasp insights into what God wants to communicate to us. God at work again.

A young man in his mid-twenties came to the door and when he was informed of the purpose of my visit he told me he was a communist from Yugoslavia.  Then he said, “I could be Jesus.”  I told him that was not possible, so he asked me, “Why not?”  I explained that Jesus was not a communist nor was He from Yugoslavia.  I then went on to say that if he really was Jesus, then he’d be doing the work Jesus said He would be doing when He returns. I can tell you all about the Bible.

The day I knocked on Errol’s door, immediately he said, “Come in.  I’ve been waiting for you.  If you want to know anything about the Bible, talk to me.  I can tell you all about the Bible.”

He took me into his study and then asked his wife to make us all a cup of tea.  As she was doing so, he enthusiastically proceeded to ask me my thoughts about the accuracy and the validity of the Bible.  I responded by saying that in my personal experience, it was everything it claimed to be – the word of God, who has revealed Himself to all mankind in Jesus Christ and that if we embrace its revelations by faith, it will transform our lives. Can you come next week?

I met Mrs Stone at the local shopping center street festival.  It was during a time of economic downturn - unemployment was high, school leavers couldn’t find jobs, businesses in the street and elsewhere were closing down and in general there was an air of hopelessness across the community. I’ve got lots of bitterness and unforgiveness.

The day I called at Mrs Bell’s house and gave her the reason for my visit, tears came into her eyes and she said, “It was two years ago today since my husband died and I know God has sent you, I’ve been feeling down all day.”  She told me she and her daughter were both baptised but she didn’t often, “go to church.”  Nevertheless she asked me to pray for them, as well as her son, “who has gone away from God.”  Both children were now in their thirties. During my time of street ministry I observed there to be no other organization so rigorously committed to systematic door to door visitations than that of the Jehovah Witnesses.  So organized and effective were they in their work in the three and a half years I was out there, they put the rest of us to shame.  And, because of the spiritual vacuum that is so evident in people’s lives, their religion had/has great appeal for people. I’m having the most beautiful experience.

I had just finished a time of prayer and ministry with Jean in her home when her next door neighbour Helen called in.  Jean introduced me to her and explained the reason for my visit and suggested to Helen that perhaps she would like me to pray with her also.  On a previous visit with Jean, she told me a little about “the couple next door” and the fact that some years earlier they had experienced tragedy in their lives. The lady introduced herself as Dorothy.  Perhaps in her late sixties, she was already standing at her front gate as I came along, telling me that she had heard me speaking with a neighbour two doors down, so she “came out for a chat too.”  She said she was a widow and as a consequence didn’t get to talk much with people. He introduced himself as Jack Brown when he answered my knock at his door.  He was a tall old gentleman with bright eyes and a sharp mind and quick to tell me he was in his 80’s.  After introducing myself and explaining that I represented one of the local churches he seemed pleased that someone would stop by for a chat.  He was a very interesting man, telling me he was an historian who had written numerous books and was still active in research, catching the train at least once a week to go into Melbourne City Library.  Read the rest of this entry »
