Initial contact was made between us after both John and his wife Rebecca viewed a thought-provoking, thirty-second television message which asked questions about life after physical death.  John phoned the church the morning after its presentation and asked if someone would come and visit with them for further discussions.  The day he phoned was Anzac Day and he mentioned that, “life after death is a constant thought for us at the moment.” Read the rest of this entry »

Are my prayers helping her?

Some church denominations combined for the purpose of promoting television messages which asked questions about death.  They were thirty second spots asking something like, “What happens after death?” and, “Where do we go when we die?”  As a result of that promotion, many people rang a church in their local area seeking further information or discussion. A fragrance of death or life?

The New Testament tells Christians that God uses us, to make clear what it means to know the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is like a fragrance that fills the air.  To most people we are a deadly fragrance - a stench, a bad smell unto death, while to others we are a life-giving fragrance – a sweet smell that leads to eternal life.  A messenger of the gospel can  positively or negatively confirm that truth within moments, when he or she begins to open their mouth for Christ. I’m having the most beautiful experience.

I had just finished a time of prayer and ministry with Jean in her home when her next door neighbour Helen called in.  Jean introduced me to her and explained the reason for my visit and suggested to Helen that perhaps she would like me to pray with her also.  On a previous visit with Jean, she told me a little about “the couple next door” and the fact that some years earlier they had experienced tragedy in their lives. He said he’d missed death by inches many times in his life.

One mid-afternoon I walked by the home of a smiling old man standing in his front door entrance.  I stopped and introduced myself and informed him I was from the local church around the corner.  He looked pleased when told of this and he asked me if I could come back late afternoon to talk.  Whenever someone asks me to do that, I know without a doubt that God has His hand on that person and He is going to reveal Himself if that should be his or her desire.
